Warsaw – Poland’s largest city which has been the capital for four centuries – with a rich history, interesting historical monuments and a fascinating present, is located in the heart of Poland, close to the geometrically calculated centre of Europe. Warsaw today is a busy metropolis, the seat of the highest national authorities, the most important administrative, scientific and cultural centre of the country as well as one of the main industrial and business centres. Foreign and international agencies are located here, as well as the seats of national political, professional, economic, social, artistic and religious organisations.
It is easy to travel to Warsaw from many places all over the world. One of the most modern airports in Central Europe – Warszawa-Okęcie – provides direct connections to many cities on all the continents. Convenient and fast Euro City trains run between Warsaw and Berlin, Vienna, Prague and Moscow.
The convenient location and attractiveness of Warsaw make it a fabulous place to meet for all IAEVG members and sympathizers. Besides the rich programm of the conference everyone will find something interesting here. First of all, the historical monuments. The Warsaw Old Town is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The walls of the Royal Castle remember the times of passing the first inEurope and the second in the world constitution in 1791 which gave the foundations for amodern state. Along the Royal Route we can find beautiful palaces, churches, houses,statues and parks. Warsaw is, however, not only monuments. It is also the cultural capital. There are over fifty museums here and over fifty galleries, as well as over thirty professional theatres. Owing to the important role of the National Philharmonic, Warsaw is the main music centre of the country. Many international festivals and competitions take place here every year, such as the renowned Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition, International Modern Music Festival “Warsaw Autumn”,International Jazz Festival “Jazz Jamboree” and Warsaw Summer Jazz Days. Warsaw is well prepared to receive guests. The network of information boards and a unified sign system which were introduced last year make getting around the city easier.
A great number of various restaurants, cafes, pubs, night clubs and discotheques offer traditional Polish food, which enables tourists to discover old Polish dishes as well as cuisine from different parts of the world.
The IAEVG conference in Warsaw will become a real exiting and professional meeting.
